  • MATCH REPORT - Sundays Well 7 - Carrigaline 33

Carrigaline convincingly beat Sundays Well today at Musgrave Park. The final score 33-7 with Carriglaine at time playing what can only be described as "Champagne Rugby"!

Sundays Well started the stronger team and should have registered some points after a couple of silly kickable penalties were conceded by Carrigaline.

Carrigline were the first to get on the scoreboard when Jason Corkery crossed the try line after some solid work by the Carrig Pack. Marcus Gates crossed the try line for his first of the seaon. John Tait converted to send the Carrig into half time leading 12 nil.

The second half began with an unfortunate injury to backrow substitute Paul Kiernan. We all wish Paul a speedy recovery.

After the restart Carrigaline continued with their dominance. Gavin O'Connell went in in the corner after some fine individual running.

Shortly afterwards Carrigaline began a counter attack in their own half. Ray O'Donoghue charged forward and showed great hands to Find Marcus Gates. Marcus shipped a tackle before feeding Gavin O'Connell who sped up the touchline into the Sundays Well 22. Gavin managed to feed Blake Doerensfield before being tackled which allowed blake to touch down under the posts.

Sundays Well replied with a try of their own after some fine individual running by their fullback.

Aodhan Bohane rounded off the scoring with a try of his own in the dying minutes of the game.

  • MATCH REPORT: Carrigaline Vs Crosshaven (J2 League)

Carrigaline met Crosshaven in a local derby match in Moneygourney on Sunday morning. Carrigaline came out the victors in this very tight game by 8 points to 3. Both packs nullified each other in the first half which played a direct part in the sides being level at 3 points apiece. Both teams put in fine defensive displays. Carrigaline began to take control of the game mid way through the second half. The pack managed to pick and drive to the Crosshaven line on two occasions only to be deemed as held up when over the try line. The Breakthrough came for Carrigaline with 15 minutes left in the game. A planned move from a scrum in the Crosshaven 22 allowed scrum half Conor Reese to put Gavin O’Connell in in the corner. Crosshaven regrouped and came back strong but a brave defensive display in the last 5 minutes saw Carrigaline to victory.
