Last Saturdays Mini Blitz Match Reports
Under 8 Match Report
The under 8 tean continued their good form with a great win over Kinsale rfc. There was some great running in the game with Anton Brennan and Barry Vosloo making some great space with the ball in hand. Defensively Carrigaline were gret, filling the line and making some great tackles. Jack Mullen,Richie Heaslip and Conor O'Shea all got stuck in to keep Kinsale at bay. At the end Carrigaline won by seven tries to three.
Under 9 Match Report
Carrigaline under 9's faced up to Kinsale RFC at Saturdays blitz. From the kick-off Carrigaline implemented weeks of rucking and tackling drills, creating many turnovers from opposition possession and were physically dominant, talking well and frequently making ground in a very strong maul and in the 2nd half drove over the try line for a great team effort. Kinsale were up to the task put to them by Carrigaline and succeeded in crossing the try line on four occasions, exploiting some defensive gaps on Carrigaline's wings. Carrigaline's support play showed a new found team spirt with everyone getting involved in recycling the ball from the ruck and maul and it became obvious that Carrigaline were not for beating on the day and managed no less that 7 tries. The team included Bryce Soils, Siofra Walshe, Joshua Badenhurst,Darragh Cotter,Rory Garrett, Stephen Fagan,Eli Drinan,Rebekah Grant,Mark O'Connell and Adam Cuddy.
Under 11 Match Report
First up were Dolphin RFC V Kinsale RFC. It was a close fought affair with Dolphin winning out in the end.Next up was Carrigaline V Dolphin RFC,Carrigaline played very well and were brave through out but wit a weakend squad on the day were unable to score during the match and spent most of the game defending and on the back foot.Dolphin RFC won the game by 4 tries to nil.Nect up was a combined team of Dolphin and Carrigaline V Kinsale RFC. It was a very thight game real end to end stuff with Carrigalin Dolphin winning out in the end by 2 tries to 1.
Under 12 Match Report
The under 12's are still chasing that illusive win this season, but have gained a lot of precious match practice over the last two weekends playing against Mallow RFC and Bantry RFC two weeks ago and Kinsale RFC and Dolphin RFC last weekend. These games have greatly improved their skills and understanding of the positional game.Every match was an improvement on the previous and we've been able to sharpen our scrumming technique around Alex Walsh with Andy Crowely also showing exceptional commitment to secure our line-out balls. Ryan O'Mahony and Sean St.Ledger have been solid at defence with James Barrett and Matthew Roche showed great promise as back-line attackers. All in all a wonder future lies ahead for Carrigaline RFC and this wonderful game call Rugby.
